Songs about recovery

My favorite is "Feel So Different" by Sinead O'Connor: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i5tmHw33_v8. It's a little on the nose, but I love it.

What's yours?

I don't know if it's about recovery per se, although I believe Chris Smither is sober. His song "Outside In" has hooked my brain pretty hard lately. Kind of a higher power thing I guess.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iiXA3n6XzR8

Did you ever stop to notice
It's when you feel a little low
That the entire spinning universe
Descends to say hello
With heavy-handed cheerfulness
And a calculated smile and says
'Carry me awhile'

But you don't have to carry
Much of anything at all
The biggest thoughts of bigger things
Are really pretty small
The major thoughts that occupy the minor state of mind
Are what we leave behind
Just a minor thought that we can leave behind.

This is a gorgeous song with a strong message, not a recovery song per se but I almost feel like it was written specifically for us alkies

Another good one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9CfWrsd97Mw

"I'll lay down this bottle of wine, if you just be kind to me".

How many times did I make that excuse.

This one is more about being in the thick of alcoholism: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OKJSKzjTA9g

"I know that it's not a party, if it happens every night". Great line.

"Cleanse song" by bright eyes. My favorite band and even when I was drinking it was so relatable. Now I'm on my second week sober and it has a whole new meaning to me.

Admin is it possible to keep this thread as a sticky? Or how can I save this thread. Since my illness progressed iv have become fearful about music and have mostly kept away but it's nice to be able to tap into music in a easy way and with recovery meaning. Thanks

Hi Hedd. Music is very healing, or can be if it isn't overly dark or aggressive. (for me). What about music has been difficult for you in your illness?
