Job Interview

Had a job interview earlier this evening at a place that I would be stoked to work and would not have considered if I hadn't been fired.

I'm incredibly excited and I'm pretty sure I've got it - she said she has one more person to interview that she'd already scheduled and that she's going to do so to be fair. Which in entirely understandable.

Told me I would hear something either way by Friday.

Going to swing by there on Wednesday and drop off a thank-you card and keep my fingers crossed - although my prior employer called (that one, some of you may recall, the one that the really really bad thing happened with ) and it seems that the girl who took over my old position has gotten herself into a heap of trouble and I very much hope he's not about to try and offer that position back to me.

Perhaps this position should I be lucky enough to be hired into it can evolve into something that I've really always wanted to do but was convinced I would never be able to figure out a way to do so. Drunk me didn't really like trying to find ways around obstacles. Sober me is like hell yeah, I can totally figure out how to make this work

Good luck Kallistia, that thank-you card idea sounds good. I'm glad your sobriety is opening up new opportunities for you.

Thanks

I always send a thank-you note and include a small gift referencing something that was discussed in the interview so the interviewer knows that I was listening to them. Once it was a pizza because the interviewer mentioned not having tried a certain pizza restaurant

That's such a great idea, and so thoughtful as well! I need to take a leaf out of your book!

Sorry to hear it, Kallistia. If you're interested in the place, keep going back and let them know you're still interested in working for them. You never know...

i always look at interviews as practice. practice socializing practice interviewing a chance to meet other people and see how another company operates and just leave it at that. I either get the job or I dont but viewing it like this keeps it a positive situation for me either way.

Sorry you didnt get it but probably a reason and the next one will hopefully be better. Use this one as just a way to dust off your interviewing skills so you'll be extra sharp at the next.

I like the card / gift idea thats pretty cool. I usually try to call or send an email myself. I feel like its such a wasted effort 9 times out of 10 for me its not even acknowledged! which I find incredibly rude. But I do it anyhow because I was taught its a good thing to do ::shrug::

Sorry you didn't get the job; I always like to think things happen for a reason so there is bound to be something even better on the horizon.

Sorry you didn't get the job. Since it's still a place you would like to work at, sending a letter stating so, including one concrete reason why you feel that way, couldn't hurt.

I would give them a ring and ask for some interview feedback and reiterate how much you would like to work for them and ask if any further opportunities are coming up.
