memory loss

62 days sober and I'm still not feeling any improvement with my memory. I would like to hear from others that have the same experience, is it permanent?!

It took me a while to get back to normal, but eventually my memory improved and now is better than ever, not counting my 'age related' memory problems.

Give yourself time and good food and rest. It will come back.

It took my foggy-brain six months before a steady but gradual improvement began to take place.

If you are very concerned, a talk with your might put you at ease.

Force,

I'm at 62 days sober as well and have similar memory issues that is further complicated by several other PAWS related symptoms.

It's very frustrating and I feel very ineffective at work.

I'm convinced I must continue to stay sober to have any chance of this getting better.

Yes, it's getting out of hand at work. I don't know how to reply when I simply have no recollection of why I did something or even if I did!! But it's better then not knowing if I did something because I was drinking, so I'll roll with it!!!

I remember this feeling very well. Sometimes it was almost as if my brain would simply "freeze up" and all I could do would be to sit there spinning my wheels. It did get much better over time. You could certainly run it past your doctor just to rule out any physical factors if you haven't had a checkup since quitting.

I kept a planner with me at all times at work and wrote things down I needed
to not forget because I sure couldn't recall them that first 6 months--still
had issues but getting better 7 months to about a year.

After a year and a half, memory and cognition really took off again
and I found myself reading incredibly obtuse material I wouldn't have
even attempted while drinking.

So hang in there

it took me about 3-4 months for my body to heal. And about 6 months for my brain to get back to normal. I had a heck of a time with a job that required lots of memory around 2 months in. I thought I was going to be that way forever and then one day I was back to normal. God Bless!

I am sorry to hear that your memory is bothering you.

I have a problem with getting names wrong, have had it for many years, but it seems worse and it is bothering me.

lets both just hope that this too shall pass.

hang in there.
