10 months

10 months since my siezure , 8 months sober and still having paws symptoms .
Ive learnt a lot over this time .
My conclusion is that I kindled so hard over 15 years that when I stopped CT the seizure was inevitable .
I'm currently having windows and waves from A host of 50 symptoms from PAWS .
I think I'm slightly better that 6 months ago but only very slightly .
I'm more upbeat because I know all the science about what's going on in my excited brain .
Basicly it's just out of balance , to much glutamate to less gaba .

I think my symtons resemble more towards a protracted benzo user than an alcoholic , that makes sense as they both target the same receptors in the brain .

My worst symptom atm is insomnia , it's hit hard , it came back strong in June , I can't make any plans to do anything anymore cause I just don't know if I will sleep .

Anyways I will keep fighting and strong .
Time is the only healer for me

Congratulations on 8 months. You're right, time is a healer, the longer you stay sober, the better you will start to feel. Keep on going.

Hi malamute, I have benzo withdrawal and my dr. suggested magnesium supplements, maybe you can ask your doctor about it too?

Insomnia is so frustrating, and debilitating. You have such a great attitude. I hope you get some good sleep soon! What have you tried?

8 months is awesome.
Congratulations...

I also had awful PAWS symptoms...pretty much past tense now at 22 months.

...just wondering if you are getting any chunks of time symptom free?

Hi malamute, I also suffer intensely from paws. Just over a year from a brutal withdrawal. My therapist, an addictions counselor, always stresses that I am getting a LITTLE better, so at least I see progress. It's all going to take time.

I am very interested in some of the terminology you use. What is 'kindled', 'CT', 'windows and waves'? I have read some paws literature, maybe you have a link?

I am just starting to sleep a little better, sometimes get 3-5 hours, it took almost a year. Still get horrible dreams and terrifying flashbacks. I am fighting hard to stay sober, I don't want this crap to reset.

Yes, keep fighting and stay strong!

Congrats on 8 months. You have been getting hit pretty hard and I am glad it's starting to come in waves instead of full force.

Hi , thanks for the reply
Kindled is when sombody keeps on withdrawing and reinstating , eg like me , binge drinking then compleatly sober for a few days then binge again.
It's the worst kind of process for our fragile brains . It's better to keep drinking thAn kindle .

CT means to cold turkey

Windows are hours or days or weeks when we have no symptoms during recovery , everything is great .

Waves are the opposite , waves of symptoms during recovery

Hope that's helps , I as you read kindled hard for 15 years , I'm currently having a few windows of good days however still the waves are much more
