Finally got my head right... its game on!!
Folks, I've been at this game of going sober for a few years. Manage to get a few days into it but always fail. Deep down I simply did not want to quit. I was forever jealous of people who could simply have a beer or one scotch/boubon after work.
Two weekends in a row I drank almost non-stop, until I'd blackout. Each Monday I'd wake up feeling horrible how time slipped through my fingers. Memories never made, relationships damaged and of course the torture my body and mind has taken.
Not any more. I truly want to quit. I am putting through my own home-made detox this week. I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I am getting an accountability partner from our church.
For the first time in years I feel like I got this beat!

My detox is basically clean up my diet, drink plenty of water, flush my kidneys good and take vitamins. Basically get my gut bacteria (and my whole body really) back to normal.
I did this before when I sobered up for a week (because I got got drinking and had too quit). Its the sleep cycle that does it for me. Will not sleep right for the first few days.
Day two all but complete. Even drove past the ol' liquor store on the way to fetch groceries. I find I have a few habits that were directly related to hiding my addiction. Gotta shake them.
I'm putting $5 away per day (rough estimate of what drinking was costing me.... I think it may have averaged more like $7). Will use the funds to buy running shoes and swag.
