Interesting article on stages of recovery

I came across an article that I found interesting regarding the recovery process. Thought it might have some helpful info for some, so I'm posting it . It's based on what researchers believe to be 6 stages of change alcoholics go through when recovering. I thought they were pretty accurate...

The six stages of the model are:

1. precontemplation
2. contemplation
3. determination
4. action
5. maintenance
6. termination

The article: Stages of Change | Psych Central

Those all make good sense to me other than "termination". I personally feel that I will always need to do some work to acknowledge my addiction as long as I live.

I'm not so sure about termination. Maybe some make it but I believe I will be capable of drinking until I am permanently terminated

Yeah, I agree. I kinda put my own twist on the termination part. There's always a risk of relapse, but once a certain point is hit, alcohol no longer presents an active temptation or threat, in the immediate sense of those words. I don't feel threatened or tempted at all by alcohol. I do realize however that the danger never goes away should I ever decide to drink again. I also don't fear relapse. Not saying it's impossible to happen, but I don't fear it as I continue to remain open minded, and do the things that I know keep me healthy physically, mentally, spiritually and socially.
