I believe they say an adult should have 8 glasses per day.
When I quit I drank water constantly and still do, drinker or not most folks are underhydrated I'd bet.

If you're thirsty you're already dehydrated.

It's best to drink water even before you get thirsty.

When I was drinking and hungover everyday I drank about 2-4 liters of water a day. I probably drink one normal healthy liter now.

I suppose as much as your body is craving, I'd go with that.

I drink a lot of water. It's basically just coffee and water. I believe a lot of people don't hydrate their bodies correctly and that goes for drinkers and non drinkers. These days it takes a lot less to become hydrated in the morning. I used to wake up severely dehydrated and had to basically chug water to become hydrated again.

I'm glad those days are over.

Just a few glasses. It's easy to tell if you're well hydrated from the colour of your urine. It should be very pale straw to colourless. If it is darker, drink more water.

I also drink a bunch of water. I went from roughly a case of beer a day (plus chugging water in between) to roughly a case of bottled waters a day (with no beers in between)...

I should probably add that where I live it is pretty much Summer (hot) year round...

I think the general rule is to take your body weight, divide by half- that's how many ounces. So, a 140lb person should intake about 70 oz of water per day.

I’ve never understood this recent popular obsession with “hydration.”

Why should humans be the only animal required to keep such constant conscious vigilance on how much water we drink, and force ourselves to drink X amount of water each day to ensure proper “hydration?”

Seems like other animals do just fine using the the quaint, old-fashioned built-in regulatory system called “thirst.”

Come to think of it, it seems like we humans did just fine using this same method for millennia before the current fad.

You’ll probably be thirsty a lot in withdrawal because alcohol dehydrates you. Drink a lot of water.
