Then unless you are privately insured, please save the tax payers money and don't enroll in the program. Nothing will work unless you have a desire to get sober.

"I know I have a problem, but I don't want to stop."

Well, we've not heard that before.

Seriously, if you don't want to stop then you probably won't. I guess you will have to lose a lot more.

Good luck to you in your drinking.

It's not stupid. If people around you are tellin ya to stop, that tells me the drinkngs pretty bad which isn't stupid.
But if ya don't want to stop, then getting into a program just to get people off your back for a while would probably be a waste of your time and money.

Whay is it about drinking you like?

Have you looked into alternatives? SMART, rational recovery, celebrate recovery, life ring??

I share that same disdain for surrendering or giving up.

I just can't come to grips with that. I allowed my usage of drugs and alcohol to dictate my life for so long, I feel that if I give up other things to make my recovery easier it's just another way of being controlled by it.

I may be cynical and stubborn but that's just how I feel. My girlfriend, while she supports me to no end and I wouldn't be dry today if it wasn't for her thinks I'm crazy for torturing myself like this.
