Well, now sober for a year (feb.26th). im not in a state of disbelief, because i was present for the whole thing. however, it is a trip. the last time i even approached this i was in BOOT CAMP and didnt have alot of choice in the matter then. Ha!
i can confidently report that it is worth it. alcohol was just not doing me any favors. although all the evidence was there, a good solid 6 months without drinking really made the case.
NO HANGOVERS FOR A YEAR! WHAT!?!
man, i had got to the point that i instinctively felt like they were just part of life. all that pain, nausea and dread is gone. if a doctor improved my health this much, i would be calling a news channel to sing praises.

-im not a big meeting guy (have been known to pop in on occasion), so this is my place to go almost daily to hear smart folks discuss things only we can understand. a couple of main resources (friends/family) in my life have never personally dealt with addiction. i learned very quickly that although they would do anything for me, they just can not understand this.
we can debate programs all we want, but there is just no support that comes close to that which we give each other in the recovery community. Bill and the Dr. got that part right for sure.

if I would have gone to the doc he woulda wanted to try this or try that or told me to cut back some and maybe given me medication for this or for that and i would be undergoing "treatment" for like ever! When all i had to do was quit drinkin quit smoking move my butt and watch the foods i throw down my face hole.
