What's wrong with me?

I slept 4 hours last night. It's now 23:20, and apart from a 2 hour nap, I've been awake since 2am. But I don't want to sleep... I want to work. I want to be busy. Seriously, wtf is going on with me?!

I was plagued by insomnia in early sobriety, sarahlou. Sobriety involves a lot of rebalancing; things should normalize but it takes time.

Hope you get some good rest soon.

Insomnia is pretty normal SarahLou - it usually gets better progressively. Try not to worry

My insomnia was horrific. The only thing worse than being awake, tossing and turning was the dreadful nightmares I had in the 30+/- minutes I would sleep.

It does go away though. In my case, it took about a week but everyone is different.

I take 2 chewable melatonin tablets at bedtime. I find that helpful. I get mine at Trader Joe's. But, I also know , like it or not, my body needed to adjust to not being in pass out mode each night.

^ what he said.

There are a whole bunch of substances where the most common withdrawal symptom is insomnia. I can understand wanting to be busy, no one likes tossing and turning in bed unable to sleep. Give this time, there is nothing wrong with you, it's just part of the process.

Read a book (physical book), no electronics, drink tea. Meletonin, or L Theanin, 5HTP all help, get they at your local vitamin shop.

You'll be fine and get through this, it's going to be annoying and sometimes uncomfortable, but you will get through this.

The one that finally helped me was an OTC supplement containing both Melatonin and L-Theanine.

Like a previous poster said... when you're used to getting blackout drunk (and/or blackout stoned in my case), you're gonna need a little help to try and sleep for quite some time. Weeks for some, months for others, but it will get better.

Welp, it's a pretty simple, short answer- yer sober.
I'm guessing ya drank for quite a few years. Yer body got used to that. Yer body( and yer mind) will take time to get some normalcy.
