What if I weren't an alcoholic?
Same here.
I would fee very stupid if I drank after having had the privilege of living such a full life since the day I walked into a treatment center and asked for help.
I claim Rule 62.
Honestly, I'm grateful when my own head reminds me that my disease is still there. At 8:30 this a.m., in freezing rain and snow, I saw a gentleman walking down the sidewalk in my direction carrying a beverage, and my first thought was that he had a pint. Of course, since a healthy percentage of people in the world are NOT morning drinkers, he had a cup of coffee. And then I thought, well, maybe he put a shot of rum in it.
At least I recognize these thoughts are sick -- it used to be my normal!
