Relapsed But Still Working At It

Hey All. I had been pretty busy on these forums earlier this year when I had just began my sobriety with AA. I have had a metric crap load of craziness happen in my life recently, which resulted in my relapse and initiating a divorce from my wife. Its really stressful but I'm sort of glad it happened. I finally hit a bottom that hurts and while it could be a lot worse, I never want things to be this terrible in my life ever again.

I am 5 days sober and have attended 6 meetings in that time. I will attend at least one meeting today after work and I am meeting with my sponsor tomorrow to start step work. For once, I'm actually excited and really looking forward to doing the work involved with step work and I'm extremely thankful to have a sponsor that I trust. Well, take care everyone!

Good for you. Remember, meeting makers make it!! Also vitally important is to dive into those steps. Don't worry about going to fast. Once you learn the principles, you can always go back if the need arises. If you get into step work and continue to stay involved in step work you are going to help yourself in the long run, in that you are going to give yourself the tools you need to sustain long term sobriety. Simple, easy, and profound all at the same time. Well, it may not seem easy all the time, but it gets easier as you go.
Congrats to you!!
Keep coming back.

Hey Butch-

Nice job with the five days. I think it's great that you're hitting this head on with the meetings, as well as using this forum. Way to take back your life!

I wish you the best with your continued progress & I hope to see you around in here.

Good choice.
I believe the steps can be utilized by non alcoholics as well as us sick and addicted to alcohol.
For me studying the steps are a way we can extend our sober time more easily the more we do them as it becomes an easier period each time we do them. The thing also is we study them for our benefit but those around us benefit greatly also. IMO

BE WELL

Hey Butch. I know how you feel, my wife has left me and it has opened my eyes to what I need to do. I am 2 days sober. Wishing you the best.
