I need to stay sober today
I have been drinking myself towards death for months now. My best friend has become Vodka. It has taken its toll. I am on the verge of losing everything if I havent already.
Its 5am and I just woke up from a black out.
My family hates me. I hate myself.
Please help me get sober.
WHERE DO I START?

Hi Brian,
I really recommend the Newcomers to Sobriety section of the forum to start with.
For me, I started with an AA meeting and going to the doctors on the first day. It helped me a lot to get that support going. You're here, and that's a good step forward I reckon.

Hi.
My sober time started when I surrendered to the fact I can no longer drink alcohol in SAFETY.
Next I needed to accept that information deep inside me.
Next I needed to stop all the crapola about not going to AA as it has helped millions to get and stay sober one day at a time in a row.
Most all programs work IF they are followed as directed and that’s the weak point because when a lot of us feel better we start thinking maybe it won’t be bad if I…… so I needed close physical support.
BE WELL

Hi Brian; I see that you joined SR in 2013; if you have been trying to do this on your own and failing, you may need to step out of your comfort zone and change things up a bit.
What have you tried to stay sober? Have you considered AA? Rehab? Have you looked into AVRT?

Have you gone to counseling?
Don't forget SR is 24/7, 365; there is always someone here. Have you tried posting before picking up that first drink or stopping at the liquor store?
Have you considered joining a "Class" here on SR?

Have you discussed your drinking with your doctor?
