Thanks John and I agree AA by itself is not a full replacement for professional help via concentrated CBT.

In round terms, in AA we are asked to assess our old behaviour, drinking and non drinking and then assess the results.

Fair to say that no one arrives at AA because life is a bowl of cherries.

So, let's find a way of changing those old behaviours (and thinking patterns) to try and ensure we can live a contented and happy life without the need to resort to alcohol as a means of relief from the unhappiness and unmanageability.

AA has its roots derived from the Oxford Group.

It still exists today, under a different name.
