Sober rewards
Sober rewards
Do you reward yourself with something when you hit a milestone? I'm almost a month sober (25 days) and thinking maybe I'll go out to eat or buy something nice. Or just be happy I've made it a month !
I got my ears re-pierced when I had three months. I had pierced ears before but I had not wore earrings for years so they closed up. I was at the mall getting glasses and after I walked around for a minute. It just hit me to do it and I did.
It made me feel pretty. I had not felt in that way in many moons.
Get a pedicure or get your nails done!

I will hit one month this upcoming Sunday and I ordered a ring that I won't open until then to celebrate, it's silver with "Live Life as You Imagined" engraved on it. Congrats on your upcoming month, treat yourself!

I rewarded myself with a daily pint of high test ice cream. Very soothing but not recommended in the quantities I was inhaling it because my veins got plugged up and change was initiated. I guess I like dangerous activities.

2 yrs. ago I picked up my 22 yr. sobriety chip
while at Sturgis for bike week. Last yr. I ordered
a pretty red chip on Ebay for my 23rd Anniversary.
This yr. I found a pretty AA symbol pendant on
Amazon to switch off with other AA jewelry I wear.
Living a life in recovery and celebrating each day
we don't drink for any person that is an alcoholic
or addict is a gift. For someone like myself who
loved to drink, to celebrate every occasion, or
just because, any reason, then drinking caused
too many problems in my life, family, marriage,
work, you name it, turned on me and entered
recovery that saved my life.
Not only am I grateful to be sober, to be living
a life in recovery using the tools and knowledge
taught to me yrs ago to remain sober, that is a
huge gift in itself.
Today, I don't mind PASSING IT ON, that program
of recovery to others still struggling with addiction
using a new pretty red holographic bumber sticker
on the back of our car or motorcycle.
It's my way of being responsible in recovery/sobriety.
Go ahead and treat yourself because you are worth it..!!

I treat myself with a regular Coke. I will also indulge in ice cream. Sobriety is it's own reward.
Only seven months for me but I have been a much better Father, Husband, Brother and Employee. I also less depressed and have less anxiety.
Best wishes to all,
TC

Hi Queen, I think you should reward yourself with anything you see fit. After all you have earned it. Rewards are a great thing.
Sharon, your reply to this post is so inspiring. I can't wait to be like you one day. You bought tears to my eyes. Tears of hope. Thank you!

Not really. In the beginning it would be a restaurant trip or eating something good. Now the real rewards are starting to show. And those including regaining true personality and real, clear memories of the past. Increased awareness you could say. It is the best and worth every effort during sobriety.
