No go

Last night, I had less to drink than normal...but then couldn't fall asleep. I was so desperate, I took a Seroquel. Well, that was a huge mistake....it was like combining whiskey, rum, vodka and wine all into one hangover. I was not prepared for how I felt today...I expected something bad, but not that bad. I just thought the Seroquel would help me sleep.

So, (sigh) I know how this post sounds. Excuses, yada yada. I get it, I do.

But, I will say this - I'm not giving up. I can still do tomorrow. It's possible.

Can't you start right now FT? Why does it have to be tomorrow AM. Make now the moment.

I thought my last drink had to be this big to do also...it was not, just a simple drink on the plane and realized that was it....I am not trivializing how hards its been but you have to start somewhere.

Also, just look at the words - its possible does not sound definite and I think you need some definite right now. Take that same fight you have on here and turn it towards sobriety.

Why not make St. Paddy's Day your new sober day. That would really be bucking the system.

It's pretty hard, not sober, to get sober and pour out booze.

Also, I think people drink differently. I think you and I are different drinkers. Once I am going, there is no stopping.

Well, too late for that.

On a side note, imagine my *genuine* surprise when not everyone was at the local bar drinking green beers today. In my head, that is literally what everyone was doing on past sober Patty's Days (and I have had them, believe it or not).

It's not impossible to stop drinking once you start. Mine ended smashing my skull onto concrete from a six foot drop. Head injuries aren't fun BTW! Yours could be more pleasant and you could dump it out and not suffer potential catastrophe!

On a side note, which (lol) nobody will comment on...anyone a marketing major here who went to college? Ever hear the "No Go" story?

The good old Chevy Nova. "Nova" means "No Go" in English. So nobody bought the damn (Chevy Nova) car in spanish speaking countries when it first came out!

I know, not really the time or the place for such lesson...

Very funny; I wonder how long the marketing guy for Chevrolet had his job after that blunder.

Yeah, this is how I drank too. I could only get so drunk, and then I was sunk until whatever I couldn't have care any less. That's the real problem with a return to drinking... for some of us... its not just come to our senses and pour it all out. Doesn't mean I could NEVER put a drink down. Just means that not EVERYTIME could I put that drink down. This was my kind of alcoholism. Like a crap shoot. Do what you gotta do, Free. Make that quit happen ASAP.

Yeah. Alcoholism is ugly. Mixing **** makes ugly even more ugly. And (more) deadly... as you already know, Free.

Free - I'm exceptionally concerned for your health. I know you already know this , but you are driving on bald tires.

My sister, who was a pharmacist, OD'd from drinking all night and coming home and taking something to help her sleep.

Please. Friend.

Please.

Promise yourself that and mean it. And realize how severe of a situation you could have put yourself in. This is your life, not a game.
