Eddie
I haven't posted for a while because I feel my life has been in turmoil! And have been thinking things through.
Firstly, I had to put to sleep my dearest little Eddie, my oldest & dearest jack Russell terrier who has been my constant friend and companion for over 16 years. I'm ok, I knew this was coming, he had deteriorated over the last year or so and I was putting off the inevitable, as so many of us animal lovers do. These days one does not have to hand over our dearly loved pet into the abyss. We can be there with them every step of the way: firstly they gave Eddie a relaxer, pre-med. Omg, the power of medical science; Eddie totally relaxed in my arms with me stroking him & talking to him. It was beautiful. All pain, worry & anxiety has disappeared from his little body. The vet then came back after about 5 mins or so - at this juncture I do believe we can change our mind! I looked at the vet and said "I am making the right decision" "yes" she said. I was consoled. The whole procedure is peaceful, calm, actually quite peasant to know my pet is not in any pain or angst whatsoever. The hard part is missing them afterwards. The huge gap, void they leave, but I know it was for the best and I do have my little Maisie. I wonder what the other dogs &/or pets think/feel when they no longer have their little friend??? Only god knows. Goodbye little Eddie I will always love you.xx

I'm sorry lilly--that is always a hard journey and I'm glad the vet made it easier.
I think Dee is right, they go ahead and wait for us, enjoying life at the Rainbow Bridge meanwhile. . .
Take good care of yourself today and the rest of the week so you can feel the feelings in peace.

I am very sorry you had to say goodbye. It takes a special person to take on pets because we know that we will most likely out live them and go through exactly what you are going through. Just know that Eddie loved you very much and knows he was very much loved by you. I believe you will be together again. And I also believe his Spirit is still with you. ((((((big hugs)))))
RIP sweet Eddie. Lilly you were wonderful to step up and do the right thing. I know how hard it is & how torn you must have been. He was blessed to have a loving person caring for him. I'm glad you still have Maisie to love.
