How much did you spend a week?
This is a spinoff of rotating stores.
I admit, I was underwhelmed when I found out how much I spent. I almost wish it were more so I could feel even better. This is two weeks for me.
My pattern was a 7 dollars 750 ML bottle of cheap vodka every two days. Through in some pints and airplane shots to kick up/keep the buzz and at least three bottles of cheap wine per week.
It doesn't come out to much: only about 25 to 30 bucks a week. That does add up, but it's only about 2 trips to a fast food restaurant or a trip to an average restaurant. At this point, I've saved myself 7 to 10 of those 750 ML and uncounted numbers of four packs of wine, bottles of wine and pints and half pints. And so my body is super happy about that. Just wish I was saving a killing on alcohol. I've been trying to treat myself to a few different things, but the amount I've spent is probably close to the amount I would buy over 6 months!

Not enough to be missing basic necessities but should an unexpected bill appear like a car repair or the dentist, then I was screwed. I also bought cheap clothes and shoes under the guise that I am not a fashion slave and used to congratulate myself on being frugal. Since I quit drinking and smoking I buy second hand designer clothes on Ebay in ridiculous impractical fabrics like silk. I love every minute of it and now wear nice clothes and makeup even to clean the house.
I drank top shelf vodka, bourbon and wines. I also went to bars often. It wasn't unusual to see bar tabs between 70-100 dollars. Tack on the shots I drunkenly bought for people and food eaten at midnight and there were weeks I spent hundreds. Other times, when money was tight I would buy boxes of wine.
I bought the cheapest beer I could buy most of the time but I did have splurge weeks where I would buy something really good. Even on the cheap stuff though I was somewhere around 50 bucks a week. Throw in the occasional bar stop and good stuff I must have been North of 200 a month.

I was a bar drinker. When I went to bars I would act like a big shot and buy rounds and rounds of shots for people, even strangers. Truthfully I just did this so that everyone would drink the same amount as me and I wouldn't seem that bad. Every Friday or Saturday night (sometimes both) I would have a $250 tab, easily. By the end of the night I'd be so drunk that I would tip so much-the tab turned into over $300. It's why I'm in credit card debt up to my eyeballs.
$300 - $400 per month, for wine and various liquors. That's for home drinking. No bar tabs, but add the occasional cocktail plus wine with a dinner out. And my wife drinks very little - a glass of wine every so often.
What an eye-opener!
EDIT: And that's not top-shelf brands.

Wow. Probably an average of $250 a week or more. I'd buy at the liquor store and at restaurants. There are hidden costs too I'm discovering like going through a drive thru for breakfast when hung over, avoiding fast casual restaurants for dinner that are more inexpensive bc they didn't serve wine, etc.
What a waste.

The cost of alcohol itself is pretty cheap. The costs of the consequences of drinking are very, very high. Things like, sudden ER trip, Dr. visits, lost work days, lost careers, car accidents, DUI's and more. The worst of all is the loss of ones dignity and above all, the loss of hope.
I would blackout run up bar tabs and then buy drugs spend hundreds in a night sometimes, then look at my bank statement the next morning and realize I'll be eating spaghetti for awhile. I spent atleast 100 every weekend on booze. Bought coke, Molly, weed, while drunk which ran up the bill that much more. Then 900 on inpatient treatment.
I like having money to spend on nice things like new laptop, clothes, etc instead of being a dumbass
