Nyquil..yes or no?

I used to take this stuff whenever I had a cold to help me sleep. i have a crappy cold right now and I was wondering if you guys think it's safe to take for a recovering alcoholic 11 months out. i think it has a trace of alcohol in it but i'm not sure. I don't know what else to take to help me sleep.

NyQuil never bothers me , you sure can feel the alcohol burn though.

It won't make you under the influence of alcohol though .
I take it like the directions say .

I never thought it worked real great though .

It used to put me to sleep very well. When I gave up alcohol, I gave up NyQuil and switched to ZZZQuil, but that doesn't work nearly so well. Then I tried NyQuil Caplets--they don't work so well, either. Now I have a lot of sobriety under my belt, and I don't think the regular dose of NyQuil would bother me in the least. I never was tempted to abuse it, and I never viewed it as "alcohol."

The last time I checked, it had both Alcohol and Acetaminophen in it. Those two substances are very dangerous together which is the main reason I won't take it. That said, it has enough alcohol to be like a cordial so I will steer clear out of fear that drinking it will make me have cravings.

I don't have a problem with it, other than the nasty taste.

I just checked around the net and found out it has 25% alcohol in it making it 50 proof or as much as a typical cordial drink.

No, Avoid anything that gives you a buzz/warm fuzzy glow.
I do.
Take one of the hot drinks with tylenol and cough suppressant.
Works very well.
Watch out for caffeine in the "day" ones!
Feel better.

Theres a lot of medical advice here.

I understand that all who shared are well meaning and trying to help - however what happened to you and how you overcame it, may not work or even be suitable for others, and may well keep someone else from seeking the professional assistance they need.

seeing as Cabos made his choice, I think we'll leave it there.
