I am So Scared
Hi carebearlost
If you're not sure about your Dr's advice, do get a second opinion - and remember that you can present at an ER anytime if your concerned.
The bottom line is your safety and reassurance.
It sounds to me though like you and your Dr have taken every precaution....
sometimes taking that leap of faith is hard thing to do - but it's worth it

I am no doctor and this is not medical advice however I have gone through severe withdrawals and even had a seizure one time. Terrible I know but Loraz is not Valium (Diaz) but it is in the family and helps prevents Seizures. I would trust your Dr's recommendation as he probably did an evaluation on your size + health condition.
Good luck with your sobriety. Life gets much easier.

Thank you so much for all the advice; I do not feel so alone anymore. I will post an update after I take my first pill and I know not to mix any alcohol with it so I will be done drinking, hopefully forever.
I think you will find it a lot easier than you think , I worked the entire time
Did not miss a single day .
I had it so bad I would wake up at midnight and have to drink a few shots .
That's how bad I was .
So I had a bad addaction , and went from that to the meds
It was not what I'd call hard , If I had to describe its difficulty
I'd call it medium , you can do it .
When you get done you will think " I was worried about -that
Why

I finally took that first pill and today is Day 1. I tried cutting back one last time, but needless to say, it did not work. My drinking got so bad that I was dry heaving in the mornings and the only thing to make me feel better was more alcohol. I am still really scared, but I am more scared of continuing to drink because it will kill me. I am also wondering how I am going to pass the time, much of my time was taken up by drinking. Well anyway, I am proud of myself for taking this first step, this will be my first alcohol free day in over three years. And I have not had more than a month sober in the last 8 years.
That's fantastic!!
Yeah I found just passing time difficult at the start as I didn't really feel like doing much due to withdrawals, but don't be afraid just to veg out, watching TV, online games, checking out SR!!
Take 1 day or even 1hr at a time, whatever it takes . . . you can do this!!
