wondering about AA
Well, everyone at that small town meeting is trusting you won't tell anyone you saw them there...so chances are good they won't tell anyone you are there.
It's also better to be caught at an AA meeting then to be listed in the newspaper for drunken and disorderly conduct or a DUI.
I wouldn't hesitate trying it out. You are 100x more likely to have a good experience than a bad one and you may very well find the supportive community you seek.
Good luck on your continued recovery!

Try it out. It can't hurt and just might help. I like the face to face that you can't get here tough SR has helped me beyond measure.
Ditto on the "what I see someone I know" comments. They are there because they are alcoholics. Each one of them was also a first timer at one point in time. We are all in the same boat together.
Try it out. And good on 5 days.
