I need help!

Sitting here at work feeling miserable. Hungover, anxious, feeling guilty, shaking and my hands are numb. Wish I had someone to talk to right now about being sober but all my friends are drunks. I have not been sober for the past 22 years. I made a fool of myself last night, but I do not remember. It's time. Can someone please recommend a good Detox program or some alcohol treatment program in MD, near Silver Spring.

Hi,
Welcome to SR. I dont know of any programs where you live but you can always go to your nearest ER or urgent care center. They are a good place to start. Plus there is always AA. Good luck. If you quit the booze it will get better

Thank you. I do not think that I am bad enough to need the ER. I plan on calling the Kolmac clinic tomorrow.

Hello and welcome to SR x

I remember feeling exactly the same way as you..shaking and anxious, feeling guilty about my behaviour but not being able to piece together exactly what I'd done.

We all understand here. You're amongst friends. Are you able to see a doctor tomorrow and see if they can suggest anything?

Keep reading on SR, there's a wealth of information here x

I doubt I will have time to see a doctor. My goal for tomorrow will be a call to the clinic for their detox program.

We are open 24/7 here.
Always someone to talk to!
Are you drinking now?
What makes you think your not bad enough to see a doctor yet bad enough for detox, where I thought you would be treated by a doctor anyway?

Don't be lonely. Come here, make yourself at home with us. We understand.

My best to you
x

I hope you find a good detox facility. After detox, how are you going to stay sober? Do you have a plan for that? Many use AA or one of the other programs. Some like me stay sober with the help of this site and my counselor. Some do it just with this site.

Just put all your effort into it - you're worth it!

Kolmac is in Silver Spring and does cost $$ and takes insurance

Avery Road is county run and is on a sliding scale/free, but you have to call daily and be desperate

AA is free and we have over 1200 meetings weekly in the MD/DC/VA area. Call 202-966-9115 (AA Intergroup also known as WAIA-Washington Area Intergroup Association) and talk to someone 24 hours a day.

Maybe I'll see you at an AA meeting!

Love & hugs,
~SB
