Family get together
We are having a get together on Sunday. I am dreading it already.
It's a joint birthday party for my brother and my gran and a goodbye party for my brother and his girlfriend, who are moving to the US.
I spent some time yesterday picking out a birthday card for my brother. The selection was limited. The one I picked has a nice poem on it and a picture of a bottle of wine on the front. I picked the card because I liked the poem, and thought nothing else of it.
My mom burst into my room this morning with the card in her hand. She gave me a shock and was screaming at me that the card was "glorifying alcohol" and that "I was going to relapse". I haven't had a drink since 4th December 2011. I admit I was afraid of her.
I am also afraid that she is going to humiliate me this weekend like she did at Christmas. We had been at my grans house and were packing up to go. My aunt handed her a half bottle of sherry and said "don't forget this". My mom said "no, you keep it, I cannot have alcohol in the house because of her" and nodded over at me. I was mortified. She was at it again today. She told my dad that they have to get rid of all the wine in the house "because of HER".
I don't know why I let my mom dictate my moods. Right now I hate her.
