I know the rules, and know I can't ask for medical advice as such but can I ask for experiences/opinions? (If not then feel free to delete this admin)
I've been googling this for ages and I can't find an answer to this question.
What I would like to know is if you quit cold turkey and have minimal withdrawal symptoms are you still at risk of "the bad stuff"
I have read withdrawal usually starts approx 12 hours after last drink etc. DT's 48 hours etc.
But if you feel fine say after 24 hours are you still at risk of the DT's seizures etc, or do you feel fine then it hits? Or do you have withdrawal symptoms that get worse that end in the "bad stuff"
I've never found an answer to this question so I thought I'd ask here, but like I say admin can delete if its inappropriate.
I know the standard answer will be if your worried see a doctor. But if you feel fine do you really need to, I guess that's the main question. Can you suffer DT's/seizures if you feel perfectly ok?

From my understanding, DT's are the physical symptoms of a body's inability to cope without the chemical fortitude that has been provided up until that point. So, theoretically speaking, if there is no physical symptoms then there is no DT.... from my understanding, that is. But as always, a medical professional would be the one to answer that question. Perhaps seeking out a specialist in the field and asking that exact question, whether by phone, e-mail or in person would provide you with the answer you seek.
There are so many variables involved that I don't believe there is a definitive answer (or even a ballbark answer). It probably depends on: length of addiction, daily drinker or binge drinker, amount consumed each day, the subject's age, the subject's weight, the subject's health . . . I'm sure you get the picture.
Hi room - good to see you again
the simple fact is there is no one right answer...some people can be fine, but it's not unheard of for others to have something happen 2 or 3 days in....
For me, I think it's best to be safe.
I think seeing a Dr is always best.
Are you planning to do that?

chances are that you will be OK
but
only God knows for sure
I would take everything very easy for a while (week or two)
all of your organs are going though major change right now
very easy -- plenty of liquids (water is best), a little food and much rest
although many have a hard time sleeping in these early stages of recovery

Well, I know my symptoms went from bad to worse at about 30 hours or so.... but I did feel bad prior. I'm not sure if I was at risk for DTs, but I got very sick and went to the ER and they gave me preventative meds just in case so at least in their minds it was a possibility.
I do remember reading a story on here from someone who witnessed a guy go from totally fine to damaging seizures at 3 days... so I think it's always best to assume it's a risk. I feel rather lucky that I got ill, because otherwise I wouldn't have gone to a doctor and who knows, it could have been worse.
