Almost 1 week sober and I find I eat constantly
person, you are going through a big physiologic change here... replacing "liquid" calories with normal food, maybe making up for vitamin deficiencies, etc.
I bet it will all even out soon enough.
That soup sounds delicious.

Don't worry about it. Tackle one giant at a time. Once you get some safe sober time behind you, then you can worry about the weight gain. You can always diet and workout. But get sober first. Good luck.
Yea, I used candy as a sub for alcohol for several weeks. Then deserts at nighttime, when I would usually be drinking still. It's what I did to get through. I put on a few pounds but it was worth it. After about 3-4 months the physical cravings were gone and I stopped using sweets as a sub. Now at 6 months sober I am embarking on a healthy eating and exercise program. I've lost 6 pounds in four weeks.
My suggestion is: Do whatever it takes for now to not drink, one day at a time. When you get that urge settled down work on the food choices. Good job on sober time, you can do it!!
