I'm new and this may have been posted many times. I figure "used" to spend $50 plus dollars a week on wine. I may go back and add that up over 5-10 years of my steady wine consumption in the evenings. I may have been able to pay for my daughter's college tuition without taking loans out..

Why? So you can feel bad and beat yourself up with regrets?

If you feel compelled to do the math, look at it as what you will save over the next 5 - 10 years, not what you spent.

I agree with, dogonecarl. Why even think about it. With myself the actual cost of alcohol is hardly anything. I could always manage to find money for booze. Of course, it took a toll in other ways. 100,000+ in medical bills, loss of license, crashed vehicles, apartment evictions, loss of friends/family ect.. IMO, the actual cost of alcohol is next to nothing. I mean if I bought the cheap stuff I could get drunk on $5-$10 a day.
