frustrates with the amount of money i have wasted over the years on booze!!
I could have had a home, new car, new computer ect.... with the amount of money i have wasted on booze. I am steaming right now errrrrr 25 years with drinking and nothing to show for. so annoying. err
there are many in your same shoes
I guess we need to be grateful that we are alive
I know that I could have died many times due to my drinking
in sobriety I have had friends go back out only to an early death
if we stay sober many good things do come back -- usually
if we drink we know that nothing good will come

Those are all material things that can be
replaced if meant to be. In place of all those
things, you will gain gifts in recovery that
are so much more meaningful and to be
grateful for long after those material things
come and go.
In the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous
there is a list of promises that can and will
come true for anyone who learns to stay
sober by living and incorporating the tools
and knowledge of a recovery program handed
down to us.
Once you've learned how to stay sober
and begin passing on your own ESH -
experiences, strengths and hopes to
others still struggling with addiction then
you will truly understand and appreciated
the gifts in recovery.

About a month after I quit drinking I bought a new car. Figured that I spent AT LEAST the same about (probably more) on beer every month. Funny how I can afford things now that I stopped (literally) pissing it away on beer
true happiness is found
yes most of us that get sober
have much of what they call in AA -- the wreckage of our past
it can be very painful as these could of should of's come up
it is ok and probably a good thing to remember terrible things from the past
because
we are repentant now and wish not to return
but
now is the time in which also
to look forward to a life lead by the Spirit of God
this is where true happiness is found
not in what we have or don't have
Howard Hughes one of the riches men to ever live
in his later years of life
was asked a question by a reporter "are you happy Howard"
Howard said that "he had not been happy for many years"
