how much money do you save a month since you quit alcohol
By the end of my alcoholic journey, I was spending about $300 or more a month. That doesn't count the days I missed work without pay because I was hung over.
I started out just drinking beer. By the time I checked myself into a detox facility, I had a handle of Captain Morgans, a bottle of Baileys and a bottle of Kahlua on the counter, a bottle of vodka and a bottle of gin in the freezer.

I was easily spending over $600 a month. I would drink all weekend in nyc. Very expensive habit...sick, really. When I think of all the things I could have spent that on, places I could have traveled to. It all going in the bank now.
i was buying appx 2 cases of beer a week. that in itself was a lot, but the times going out to eat/drinks, drunk-ordering pizza, making drunk amazon purchases...it all added up to over $250 a month. seems funny now how i ALWAYS found money for booze, but other things i needed/wanted...well, i just couldnt afford them! haha. booze is expensive, in more ways than one
On average I spent $15/day (sometimes more, rarely less).
That amounts to $105/wk; $5460/year and a minimum of...
$455 / month
My savings has grown quite a bit since I made my big plan to never drink again and never change my mind!! :- )

IMO, the cost of alcohol is actually very cheap. It is the consequences of drinking that really add up. For example, hospital bills, legal matters, loss of job or unemployable, car accidents, ect.....

I'm still drinking and this is an incentive to quit. I just did the math and figured out I'm wasting a lot of money. I am blowing a lot of money on booze. I drink the cheep stuff, like Dog Bite beer (8 percent alcohol and costs about 1.20 dollars) and Black Velvet whiskey. My figures don't include what I spend during my lunch breaks from work and other odd variables.
Beer wise I spend about 240 dollars a month, and whiskey wise I spend 120 dollars which adds up to 360 dollars. Figure in how much I spend on cigarettes (about 200 dollars a month) I'm losing a lot of money on a lot of stupid stuff.

This is true. I was arrested in 2011 for DWI and it cost me about 5000 dollars total (lawyer fees (low end lawyer) + court fees + 6 months of an ignition interlock in my car which had a service fee of like 80 bucks a month or so) and arrested in 2012 for DWAI, which I fought and got reduced to parking tickets which cost me 200 dollars. Damn. Such a waste of my hard earned money.

Since I stopped drinking, I have made double mortgage payments every month on the Principle. I have remodeled/gutted my main bathroom (it was circa 1980s cheap with a rusting sink) and bought both a new front door and storm door.

I post this because I think it's a great incentive to stay sober. It's funny a few of you exceeded my amount $250 a month. I forgot about the bars. I stopped gong to the bar in the end but when i used to go I could spent $50 in one night if i drank bourbans. I just drank the cheapest beer for the last 2 years and that put me at 250 a month just with that. I only cared to get drunk, not so much to socialize.
