I guess I'll just play some video games tonight and drink some chocolate milk! LOL

Maybe I'll get a buzz from all the sugar and act funny for a bit.

How do you plan to enjoy the weekend?

1 month sober again

For long time I equated fun with catching a buzz...
now I don't need or miss the buzz...

fun - being with people I love, or doing things I like to do - brings its own enjoyment - totally different to a buzz, but far more satisfying and 'real' to me.

This may sound condescending but I don't mean it to be...it really was one of the fundamental changes of recovery for me...I changed and so did my ideas about things

Stick with it Gravel

My party will be welcoming in the New year...A new start of things to come.

*tapping on the desk with my nails..waiting*

Good food..Blackeyed peas with a dime, maybe I'll just pocket it beforehand and claim it!
Good company ....and if not.. then dinner and a movie.....
A soak in the tub...relaxation...

cornbread of course...........................

Well you could say being with family gives you a buzz. Buzz meaning good time or feeling good.

You feel good with family right?

with my family of choice rather than of birth...but I do, yeah

I was trying to linguistically differentiate that feeling from a 'high', that's all.
hope whatever you do you have fun, Gravel

I probably won't do anything at all. This will be my second New Years in a row without a hangover. I used to get really hammered on New Years Eve and "paint the high water mark". The next day was always grim. I love not having to put "quit drinking" on my resolution list.

I'm with Exauhsted. News years day dinner with family. Ham, cornbread, mustard greens, and of course the mandatory southern dish - black eyes peas. I'm sure there will be more too but these are definites. Plus homemade dutch chocolate ice cream for dessert.

At least I can never be arrested for "Driving While Fat".

I think the word "party" has assumed an aggressive and self centred meaning in some circles in my culture.

Celebrate and recreate

Go out and celebrate just don't drink. I sucked down 3 beers in front of my family to prove I could and suffered all night and the next day. Watch your pride unlike me.

I gain ground from saying watch this and stopping. I'm also one of the most headstrong dummies you'll ever meet in life.
