About to Attempt Again
About to Attempt Again
Well, its been more than 6 months since my last serious attampt
I honestly believe it is time again to begin a serious attempt!!!
Last time I began a daily blog on here regarding my trials and successes during my attempt! It seemed to work for me and you guys gave me strength!
I am going to do the same again and hope to be as successful as many of you have!
Please look for my blog and check in from time to time and give any advise or stories you may have.....as it is inspiration!
There is a reason I keep coming back to this board....and this board only after these years.....AND ITS BECAUSE OF THE PEOPLE!

I wish I knew?..I hope will power!
Currently I am checking for AA in my new area? I honestly doubt there will be any within a 1.5 hour drive? Will let you know..
The other problem with AA....is that I am not a firm religion believer! I believe in a higher power of some sort...but not as the bible describes.
Will this hamper my efforts at AA?
Thank you for any advice!

There's many different approaches and methods of recovery around Cervelo - here's some links to some of the main players:

I recommend you visit the Secular Connections forum if you think you may benefit from a non 12 step approach, too.
Willpower wasn't much good for me because I realise now a lot of my will was still caught up in wanting to drink...
trying for acceptance - learning to accept that I couldn't drink anymore if I wanted a better life - was key for me

The word attempt kept jumping out at me.
The words I use, and the words I repeat to myself are telling and powerful. I can attempt to stop doing something one thousand times. I can do the thing once and for all and be done with it. I have learned that with sobriety, after some attempts, that doing it once and for all took lots less energy and had much more pleasing results.
By all means, never give up. But also know that we can stop, and stay stopped. This can be YOUR time to do just that!
I'm so glad you are here sharing your recovery with us!

I'm with Threshold here. 'Attempt'? I think we need stronger words than this. Whatever means we choose to get sober, faith based or otherwise, we need a rock solid commitment to your sobriety. Without that, we just rinse and repeat.
I believe it is essential that we start with the conviction that this is going to happen, and that it will happen today. I will do whatever I must to achieve and maintain sobriety.
