It really couldn't have gone any better. I'm sure the judge could tell I was serious about sobriety and scrupulously honest. He was compassionate and encouraging.
Thank you all for the words of suuport. Each one was deeply appreciated.
The natural high I'm feeling now is way better than any chemical buzz!

SO relieved for you John. I was just going through some old papers & came across all my DUI stuff. It still gives me chills. I keep it so I'll never forget where I've been.
You can have a whole new life, John. There can be a happy ending after all.

I'm really surprised by today. I didn't even dare to hope for such a good outcome. When I would pray about it, I would only ask for the strength and serenity to get through it. That prayer was answered. I also asked for the opportunity to help someone if I did have to serve any time. I'm trying to think of a way to give back, to help someone as a tangible way of giving thanks.

I just got off the phone with my sister. She said the same thing; a new chapter.
I am glad it went well for you.
If you are a member of AA you will find plenty of chances to share and help others.
If not, how about going and volunteering at your local Rescue Mission. It is there you will find that a smile and a firm handshake goes a long way. And in the process you may find some of us still out there (yep many of us do end up living on the streets and some of us die out there too).
Just a thought.
Love and hugs,

You will have many opportunities in the future to help the newcomer.
All the best.
