Had a great SOBER birthday
Had a great SOBER birthday
Since the age of 24 or 25 (cant remember) I have never had an alcohol free birthday. Hell this is the first year no one has given me alcohol as a gift (which I used to love)
I had been sober for quite awhile (cant remember the days) last year & got smashed on my birthday. That started the nightmare of my relapse.
But yesterday was just grand. The people I work with are so kind. I had a wonderful dinner and dessert with my husband and sons. Its crazy how funny your kids are when youre sober! Sadly, over the years Ive had many wonderful dinners for my birthday but I either didnt eat because I didnt want to kill my buzz, or I ate but couldnt taste it because I was so drunk. Im 37 now so thats alot of drunk birthdays!
Being in recovery there is always a flip side. I have a sister who didnt call and a dad who dropped off a plant with my kids because he doesnt want to see me. I guess I should be in a corner crying over it right now but Im to happy and Im elated to be sober.
