Restarting the clock
I had a good five and a half months sober and then drank a few beers a few times until last Friday I went out and got plasterd, threw up on the floor, blacked out, blah, blah, blah. I went to a meeting Sunday and wanted to get it off my chest to some other folks that I'd relapsed. I used to sit in meetings and not want to hear about relapses! LOL. Ah well. It's all true - I picked right back up where I left off. At least now I know I can go longer than three days. And I know that each and every time could be my last. It's just that much harder to kid myself now.

Staying real sober is a goal you should get into. It's a good thing that you have had been able to get into 5 and half months of sobriety and it only shows how long you can go longer being sober.
Were it me, when I hit 5½ months again I would keep asking myself "Do I really want to go through that again?" any/every time I thought about picking up. They say to remember the pain and never get complacent.
Sorry to hear about your relapse, but sounds like you are on to a brighter horizon! Glad you are here to share. This alcohol problem is a real tricky one! Will sneak up on you and destroy you while appearing beautiful and carefree. I wish it never existed. Really.

I want to thank winnslynn for getting me into gear. I went to a meeting tonight and got a number. Called the guy and we're meeting tomorrow night. With any luck I'll have a sponsor by Friday like I should have had in the first place.

Similar story for me, but I had 2 years. You just can't let up on recovery, because alcoholism is patient and will seep back into your mind when you stop fighting it. Back to the drawing board for me and you!
It's wonderful to see someone with enough humility to act on great advice. You may have just put the cork in the bottle for good
