Question about recovery.

Hello.

Heavy drinker for 10+ years went sober last october and a hell it was, then had a 2 day relapce in january. Been sober since.

My question is, does the withdrawal symptoms and recovery start from zero after each relapce or how does it work?

Thanks.

I suppose the withdrawl symptoms are an individual issue but in my opinion, the recovery starts from zero.

I would vote yes on both RP.
Why do you ask?

When I first got into recovery I had this crazy notion that I could drink 1 weekend a month and still be "in recovery". There was a point at about 3 months where I almost pulled it off. The trouble was "alcoholism is always progressive".

The hangovers turned into severe DT's and the weekends turned into 3-4 day benders. It seemed like the longer the dry spell in between benders - the worse the bender was. My health, career and marriage went down-hill faster than ever.
