Got Thrown Under the Bus At My Meeting Tonight
So tonight I went to my regular 7:00 womens meeting. I'm still new in the program, about 2 months in now and so far I haven't really done any of the services or anything because I still feel too nervous.
However I do go in early and help set up the chairs and such, so tonight I went in and started putting out chairs and this woman tosses me a book and says "here you get to chair tonight!" And I instantly reverted to my childish anxiety and nervousness, and I politely declined at first. Then she says "no, no, I've seen you coming around and I can tell you're serious about this program and I've loved watching you progress, you can do this!"
SO.......I DID IT! AND I AM SO PROUD OF MYSELF! I was totally nervous at first but then I calmed down and when it came time for me to open up the sharing I completely surprised myself but talking calmly and without rambling too much. Everyone told me I did an awesome job. I'm so happy right now.

Flyer, I would've been terrified - I think it's amazing that you accepted the challenge. I know any time I've made myself go outside my comfort zone it's ended up benefiting me. Great job!

It's great that it happened on the spot like that. Just think, if you would have had a weeks notice, all the extra "worry and freak out time" you might have invested in anticipation. Awesome job! Good lesson tho in how most of our worries are unfounded.
It's like....all those stupid little fears we learn about when we quit drinking, why am i afraid of speaking in front of a group? why can't I calm myself down? This time I didn't have a choice so I just rolled with it. lol.
