Another positive update. He's off the ventilator today and breathing on his own. He's talking, but it's so soft and hoarse right now that it's frustrating for him because no one can understand much of what he's saying. Hopefully that'll be better tomorrow. He's definitely saying words, phrases, even sentences, not just confused stuff.
They've also ruled out some of the things they were worried about earlier, such as pancreatitis. It seems that the main problems they are talking about now are liver-related. They worried me with talk about his ammonia levels tonight. They had come down a fair bit but have gone back up, although not to their all-time high.
