Day 4

Wake up, feel cranky, blighted, angry, lonely, otherwise sound. Are these feelings as constant company normal? There's probably more to this than alcohol. It's just that with alcohol, I can't cope with them period, and I haven't gone 3 weeks without a drink in 12 years so I am hoping to uncover something in me, perform an excavation.

Apologies for cluttering the board. I just feel like creating a record will help me not drink.

Early recovery can be an emotional rollercoaster - I think everyone here will identify with your post.

It will get better

It gets better just give it some time. I always reminded myself how long I drank so I couldn't expect to feel "better" over night, your body and mind need a chance to recover and heal. 4 days is a great start, keep it going.

i've got one day up one you, so consider me a voice from the future - it definitely gets better. the initial hump is really awful for me, both physically and mentally. days 3 & 4 are generally the worst (explaining my pattern of relapsing like clockwork on every prior day 3), but my mind and mood eased their attack quite a bit today (day 5). everyone's a bit different, of course, but hang in there and remember that no condition is permanent. good luck to you.
