Dead this morning
Hi all,
I found out this morning that a family member was found dead.
He had struggled with alcohol for a long time yet had made remarkable progress. When I last saw him he looked absolutely fantastic.
While I don't subscribe to labelling, he was what society would have classed as a chronic alcoholic in that he could easily sink a bottle of vodka before 9AM during his drinking periods.
Despite that fact he was in his 30s, alcohol had already caused him a heart attack. When he drank he would wallow in his own body fluids.
Until you see the inside of a coffin a brain chemically dependent on alcohol will stop at nothing to satisfy its insatiable appetite.
You probably don't need me to tell you that you don't want to die prematurely, robbing yourself of your dignity, doing something you loathe (and makes you loathe yourself) and leaving your family minus one less member.
If you're sober today, you have achieved a wonderful thing. If you aren't, take action now. It does not need to end this way for you.
All the best everyone.
