Day 7..Feeling great
Today is my 7th day sober! Last night I got into an argument with my fiance and I didn't even think about needing a drink! I was more focused on wanting a cig. We are both trying to stop smoking and I think I was so on edge and irritable because of not smoking it led to a fight. I guess that's just an excuse I am great with those. I woke up to an open pack of cigs and couldn't walk away so it looks like I will be starting again tomorrow. I still feel great today because I know that not drinking alcohol is a battle in itself and I am winning that one.
1st things first, Kaw, so congrats on your 7 days. That is wonderful to hear; I am happy for you.
So y'all are trying to kick cigs at the same time? Wowza, I'll bet your house is a veritable barrel of monkeys!

Congrats on day 7. I know how you feel. I want more than ever to quit smoking right now too but I am going to hold off for bit until I am more comfortable not drinking. I smoke all the time anyway, but I'm finding it was tied to alcohol more than I knew. I'd come up for a smoke when I was drinking and chug a beer away from my wife. Now that I no longer do that, I'm less inclined to smoke. But I still am. For now. But if you feel a breakdown coming and one or the other is going to give, have a smoke in my opinion. Smoking and drinking will both kill you eventually, but drinking will ruin your life as well in the mean time.

I'm not beating myself up about the cigs. If I really feel like I need a cig so I don't drink I'm gonna smoke. I am just happy to be feeling better since I have gotten the alcohol out of my system. I didn't realize how bad it was making me feel the next day until now. I had 20 days sober and got drunk one night and the next day felt like crap. Having all those days sober and feeling good and then feeling like that showed me.
