Help me celebrate

Hello SR, I need your help on something.
In two weeks, I will reach a major, milestone, life goal. If I were still drinking it would be a Dom Perignon occasion. Yes, I can be a classy drunk

But, those days are over, so I would like some suggestions on how to soberly celebrate this occasion. Any ideas? I only have two weeks to plan!

Hm,

Sorta depends a bit on what kind of occasion it is--the kind you want to shout from the rooftops and share with everyone you know? Or the kind you want to keep sort of private and share with only your nearest and dearest?

I've always been fond of celebratory dinners or lunches. Pick a super-special restraurant, or have a little party catered at your house, maybe. Since you are the guest of honor, you don't want to plan something that will cause you a lot of stress planning or preparing.

Congrats on whatever it is!

I agree it depends on what you are celebrating and who all you want to be involved. One of my favorite ways to celebrate is to have a spa day with my female family members and friends. Really treating yourself for a day and most places will provide great food and chocolates. Congrats on your big day!

We do BBQ's. Tons of yummy foods, good music, good laughs, bubbles, a nerf football, and a frisbee. I love a good party.

Tomorrow is my birthday. I will be having lunch with friend's and then going to see a museum exhibit with some of them.

The caribbean isn't bad this time of year!

I won't have that many celebrants with me. I was thinking since I got hooked on sparkling water when I got sober I can order some fancy French sparkling water. Maybe a nice cigar to go with it.
Maybe my sponsor will have a sparkling water toast with me.

BTW, here's what the occasion is. I've been in Toastmasters for awhile and July 1, I will earn my Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM), the highest award possible.

Have a bottle of expensive imported sparkling water if you like that, get a nice cigar and your friends and go to a really cool place f.e. someplace where you have a great view or to some location that has importance for you and, most important, enjoy the moment. Maybe you could combine it with some sort of picnic if it fits the weather and the circumstances? Are you expected to make a little speech or will someone else do this on this occasion? Congratulations on reaching a major personal goal
Have fun, Lionne
