Pointing the finger
Heard this on a tv show today....
Sometimes it's easier to point the finger at others than take a look at ourselves.
I like that thinking, sums up intolerance and the need to gossip.

A little more than that.
If you physically put your hand into a 'pointing the finger' at someone else you will see you have 3 fingers pointing back at you.
When my sponsor showed me that, I was maybe 2 months into recovery. Sure made an impact on me. Has been a big help all these years of putting the 'blame' directly where it belongs, on me.
Good insight on your part!
Love and hugs,

I always thought that a lot of the finger pointing was about projecting ones own issues onto others. Kind of like shouting "Look at what he/she's doing" (but please ignore the fact that I'm even more of a mess). He wait, don't politicans deflect like this all the time to avoid confrontation?....... Did I just point the finger at politicans?

Projecting issues............exactly............and it's not just alcoholics/addicts that do.......least alcoholics who work the AA program properly are trying to address their defects.......seeking spiritual progress.
I pointed the finger at finger pointers..............arrggh this is hard sometimes

Yes you did, but in the process you have gotten a GREAT thread started. Gives us al something to look at.
But actually, it was more of bringing up a 'problem' that we all have a tendency to do, 'blame shifting'. This thread is a good reminder or what happens. Thanks.
I sure am glad you have a sense of humor. That is part of recovery also that we learn how to laugh at ourselves.
Thanks for starting a great thread.
Love and hugs,
If only closed minds came with closed mouths.
There are a few quotes that I've mashed up into one:
"Never judge the life of others, because each person knows only their own pain and renunciation. It's one thing to feel you're on the right path, but it's another to think yours is the only way. Criticizing others is a cowards way of praising oneself and gossip is the tool of the weak minded. When judging others, you don't define them, you define yourself. Great minds discuss ideas, small minds discuss people."

How true...don't worry, I'm not a politician.
