3 weeks!

Hello All,

I'm 3 weeks sober! AA is working well. I was going everyday for the first week or two, but I found that my life was more "unmanageable" between school, work and AA than it was while drinking. Now, I've been trying to make it to about 4-5 meetings a week and trying to call my sponsor everyday (though not perfectly, as I'm pretty shy :P), and getting service at a few meetings. I will admit that I do feel much better after going to a meeting, but just knowing that my I'm accountable to a group has been pretty helpful in keeping me sober.

The feeling of obsession with alcohol has lifted faster than I thought it would, though I do have my moments. Just taking it one day at a time is the best I can do for myself.

I also realized after going to AA for a while that it was keeping me sober. In a sense, I KNOW for a fact if I were going it alone, I'd probably be passed out on my futon right now. Anyone thinking AA isnt for them, please give it a try.

Just wanted to pop in!

Jon

Way to go Run!! I also found going it solo didn't take me very far and that support (in all its various forms) is tremendous. I could put down the bottle myself but I needed help and others to guide me and help show me the way to live a beautiful sober life.

Thx for posting and keep it going

Good for you. Be vigilant. When you first start, you have euphoria and a feeling you can conquer the world. If mood swings do set in, don't take them seriously.

I'm definitely aware that there will be complacency in the future, and times when I just wanna say forget it. Hopefully AA can help me stay active in my recovery
