Red Palms?
Red Palms?
Just curious.. and yes.. I'm on 72 hours alcohol free after a nasty binge last week.. I've had pinkish/reddish palms for pretty much my drinking career. I have read its sometimes indictiative of liver disease.. I'm not asking for medical advice, just wondering how common it was with some of the recovering alcholics here and did it stay for a long time after? I never even thought about my hands until recently so I don't know if in my sobriety it was there or not.... Also of course my face and neck were always red when drinking too.. It's already subsiding a lot.
I don't think I noticed my palms when drinking aslthough now that you mention it I do recall reddish palms...they are normal today.
I thought I had a reddish complexion...turns out I'm actually really pale when I don't drink...I've had to start wearing blush!!!

Please see your doctor and be honest about your drinking
if you are concerned...

I think this is the first time I've seen any outward signs of what may be liver disease.. Quite scary.. No alcohol again. I've got a good small AA home group and a sponsor.. 3rd meeting tonight.
Red palms are a symptom of cirrhosis. That doesn't mean you have it, however. The bottom line is to see a Dr., and keep coming back here for support. Maybe check out some sort of support group such as AA, SMART, Celebrate Recovery, etc.

What I mean by that is while I was drinking, I refused to connect the dots and told myself my ears are red and burning b/c of common alergies. It's certainly not b/c of the amount I drink.
What insanity...
I was going to start a similar thread but might as well contribute to this one.
I've developed some type of rash that's triggered everytime I drink beer, within 30 mins. It appears on my waist, butt, top of feet, also my ears get extremely hot. If I slow down for few days it appears to fade, strange thing is it doesn't itch but does feel like needles if I get to hot.
I'm only 25 but I've been drinking heavy daily since 21, I've been wanting to stop for good and this issue is even more motivation.

Welcome Jay. Anyone suffering from this should see a Dr., but google up "alcohol flush reaction". It sounds like what I'm hearing on this thread. Personally I never experienced it but I could write a book on all the other stuff alcohol did to me.
Life is a lot better sober.

my palms were pink not red, now they have gone back to normal, also had the most awful burning on the face, i was too stupid to realise it was from alcohol at the time and i was forever putting ice on my face which didnt really work,
Just an update.. This morning they are slightly pink.. a little blotchy but 10 times better than yesterday.. Keep in mind, I was coming off a 7 liter nasty binge last week (my last).. It still scared me.. Just got back from the gym.. Feeling great...

Simply going nearly two days without drinking I feel better mentally, but also my body seems to hurt/ache more espically my side. Then again im not drinking nothing to dull the discomfort.
Last night was the first night in along time I actually heard traffic noise, people upstairs, refrigerator noise, while trying to go to sleep. Its a different feeling, I seem to hear every little tiny noise.
I got sober right after my 27th birthday....by the end I was coughing up blood, my liver panels were all screwed up, i had unbearable heart burn 24/7...now no longer drinking, plus exercising and eating as healthy as I can, I do not suffer from those things any more. It's amazing how the body heals.
I also would like to add that in early recovery i used the internet to diagnose myself with a number of things....HIV, Brain Cancer, pancreatitis....all of which i do not have.
Your best bet is to see your physician and let him diagnose and treat you.
