My Nephew is on a Respirator in CCU
He wasn't letting on how much he has been drinking. He had visitation with his 4-year-old son on Sunday and didn't want to drink so he quit for that day.
He went into such horrible withdrawals and was projectile vomiting and was in tremendous pain.
His mom took him to the ER - his pancreas is huge and he had trouble breathing. They put him in a medically-induced coma and put him on a respirator. His liver enzymes are off the chart. He'll be on the respirator for another week, and if he survives this, he will spend the next 30 days in the hospital.
He won't remember any of this, so him mom took a picture of him on the respirator. If he lives through this, she wants him to see just a portion of what has happened.
He is 32 years old.
Please son't try to stop drinking on your own - it's so dangerous.

I wish well for your nephews return to health. So dreadful for him to be that young and have such a serious alcohol related condition like that.

He now has pneumonia and blood clots in his legs - ALL of this because of drinking alcohol.....God what a f'd up disease this is.
His father's side of the family does not believe that alcoholism is a disease and that he should have power, choice and control over alcohol....so needless to say there is a lot of fighting going on at the hospital....what a mess.
I told them that he is in a medically-induced coma and he can hear what you are saying, but that doesn't stop the egos from going on and on.
People make me sick - I want to live in a cave.

I'm so sorry that this situation is made harder by relatives fighting.
I hope he survives this and gets a chance to recover. Sending everyone involved some positive thoughts and energy. Hugs,
LS

I'm sorry to hear this and I do hope he lives through this for your, your family, his son and his sake. This is a truly deadly disease that people sometimes don't take seriously. I'll keep him in my prayers.
