Travelling... in a strange place
Travelling... in a strange place
Well, we've gotten to where we're going, "here" being the location we hope to make our lives in within a few months. We're here right now just poking around for work and housing. I pulled out my handy "Steps Away" app and the nearest noon meeting is 13 miles away. EEK! I also noticed almost the same amount (not many) of OA and NA meetings...
Where we are moving from there are probably 50 meetings at any given time... this is really scary to me. There MUST be more drunks around here and I just haven't found them. Don't even talk about leaving my sponsor...
So feeling a little like I'll be stranding myself in about 60 days, although everything else about this place is perfect. Don't know what to think right now; "terrified" and "isolated" come to mind though...

Good luck man, I haven't stayed in one place more than a month since may, its a challenge to stay plugged in but its doable, the internet also is a great resource to stay connected with old AA friends...
You never know--there may be a lot of alcoholics at that meeting 13 miles away that live or work closer to you and would love to have a closer meeting. Maybe you can start one.
You can stay in close touch with your sponsor by phone and email until you meet someone close by.
It's gonna be OK--moving is always kind of a scary prospect, but it's exciting, too. It might turn out to be every bit as perfect for you as everything else about the place seems.

I moved from D.C. to Fl. and Ga. since I found recovery.
From city...to large town to village AA....
Sure...the format and rooms and meeting size changed
By quickly hooking in to local groups....my recovery
never wavered.
That can be true for you as well......
Blessings to you and your husband
as y'all explore this new opportunity
