I've made it through family visits where they drank ALL day long for 3 days straight.

I've watched my wife drink each night.

I've even accompanied my wife to an employer-sponsored dinner with open bar!

Not once did I give in.

As I'm writing this, I'm sitting in an airport on my way home from a business meeting in NY. Having traveled for years, my typical protocol was to arrive at the airport early and sit at a bar. Not only did I arrive early but my flight has been delayed an hour.

Wow! Holy Cow!

Well, went to a corner snack store, picked up a container of mixed nuts and a bottle of Fiji water and here I am.

I'm just glad I've got a place to go to tell someone! Thanks!

Yup, I would have been drunk before the flight, have a few more on the aircraft, "dinner" in a connecting terminal and then more booze before hitting home. Some nights there would be no booze on flights and/or direct and I'd be lucky enough to be sober enough to drive home and on other nights I'd shack-up in whatever airport hotel I could stumble to.

I'm glad I don't travel for work any longer.
