Whats wrong with me???

Well I know the answer to that, but I am just having a hard time, I havent managed to stop drinking, but I have cut right down, still drinking too much but I figured it was a good start and a step in the right direction. then this week I have just seemed to go crazy. I dont know why I did it. Now I am feeling panicy.

Because when you are alcoholic, you are addicted to alcohol, and having any at all sets off cravings for more. The only way to stop cravings is to stop feeding the addiction AT ALL.

What is happening to you is what happens to drinkers
once they cross a line into addiction.

Moderation seldome works for long.
Then drinking increases.

It is nothing unusual ...but it certainly causes many problems.
I sure hope this will spark you into quitting.....

Welcome back to SR...

Hi Bexs

good to see you again

I tried a lot of times to control my drinking and cut right back - it never worked for very long.

In the end I had to face facts and admit I just couldn't drink alcohol at all.

It still took a lot of work to stick to that decision, but things got a lot better from that point

Have you got any support besides SR?
D

Hey Bexs,

I think we have all tried moderation. Look through the postings you will see. Now you have tried. Yea, it doesn't work. Not for us. Yes, you had to try it for yourself, we all did.

So now that you have gotten that out of the way, what are your plans? AA is a good place to start, it works for a lot of people and is usually the most available. Otherwise there are lots of other programs, 12 step and not. Check the other threads here, so much to choose from.

Let us know how you are doing. Really sorry about your diagnosis, but you can do something about it.

We are all here for you during your recovery.

Just stay sober today!!!!

Read this again tomorrow, and then the next day, and the next, and so on. You know the drill, you can do it!
