Hello
Hi everyone, I've been lurking for about 6 months but its time to come out of the shadows. I've been fighting the alcohol demon for 28 years (I'm 48) and I've won some battles but lost many more, and it is currently kicking my ass!
Welcome Hangingon! I'm glad you're not in the shadows anymore and have decided to join us. I lurked for quite a while, too. I'm so glad I decided to join about 5 weeks ago, because I've been sober since! I just couldn't do it on my own, even though I'd tried over and over and over again.
I'm so glad you're here - keep posting and just try to stay sober one day at a time.

Welcome. I am also 48 and I no longer do battle with alcohol. Alcohol won. Alcohol is the champ. By not doing battle with Alcohol, I am much better off. I had to surrender to win. This is one of the paradoxes of AA, but it worked for me.
Where in FL are you? I travel there quite a bit.

Thanks Artsoul, I am trying to get sober but it is always two steps forward and one step back! I have been trying to do it solo but I realize that isolation is probably not the best approach.

I think many of us would like to do it in isolation.
Seems to me that the more open I am about my recovery status to other people, the easier it is. Acknowledging necessary boundaries, of course.
Welcome hanginon.. You Are on a Good Site Here! i Can Relate..
