1 Year Sober
1 Year Sober
Well,
Its been a long time since I posted on this forum. I have still been attending my meetings etc but most of my program has turned into improving my spiritual life through intense periods of meditation, study, etc. Nonetheless this site helped me ALOT when I was first getting sober. It also helped me a lot when I stopped smoking. Its been a great resource and I should probably start coming around here to encourage others... I got one year sober on May 25th 2010.
What has changed? Everything. I can not explain it as well as I would like. But my baseline perception day to day is completely different. My mind is more lucid than every before in my life. I have the choice not to react to situations today (and I take it). I feel happy about who I am. I feel like I am on the right path in life for the first time in years. I just want to let those newly sober (wasn't so long ago I was in your shoes) that you just can't imagine what a challenging but amazing ride you are on. Stick with it. Ow and I got sober when I was 21 so don't think you can't turn it around at a young age...
Much Love,
Clayton

Clayton - you helped me when I first starting posting on SR. I'm now 150+ days and moving forward. It's great to hear from you and great to see how well you're doing.
Thank you and don't be such a stranger - you may help someone else.

Hi Clayton!! Congradulations!!! you are truly an inspiration to me!! I can only imagine how one year of sobriety feels...I'm 133 days sober and feel so good....even in this short time I feel a huge transformation within myself...I know I have a way to go, but I'm enjoying this journey!! I look so forward to hearing more from you!!

Hey Kjell and Loveon2legs, somewhere around that time in my sobriety I felt like I had gained some real momentum--its a great feeling. I hate to sound cliche but it was around then I really started revving up my spiritual life... But im not here to preach to anyone thats just my story...
