Lightbulb Hi

I been on the wagon since April 15, 1976. What I can recall was that I was in a black out and woke up with my car all crashed up. I got it for negligent homicide that time. That sobered me up right away. That cause physical, mental an all kinds of sickness. AAh god was in remorse. But let me back up just a little. When I FIRST went to treatment. That did not mean **** to me. It was a way to get out of jail and some time out from the law. So I went through it but I had the party already planned out ahead of time. So now the SECOND time - I was scared, lonely, lashing out. And when I went in to treatment I was for some odd reason very sincere about it. So for the nexts four years it was Anabuse pills and AA meetings. Got me to where I'm at now. Thanks - Redroad

But before I quit. I think/feel it was about 1963. I was ten years old then. Was out fishing with some friends. Needed a place to cook our catch. Low an behold just off shore was these summer homes. It was spring so no one was around. So we broke into that one home and got real comfy and fried up some fish. So as we opened the frig. there in the frig was a six pack of Lucky Lager mmmmmmmm, yep that where it started. Well one thing lead to another and me an "Johnny Law" had our go-arounds.

As I was saying that first round of alcohol treatment was a total miss. Back then the term was "taking the Cure." I remeber people teeasing each other back then. Of course they slightly older than I. Hey did you get the CURE. An so on. Backing up just a tad bit. I enlisted in the U.S. Army June of 1971, and volunteered to go to Viet Nam. But just before that I was sent to a school of "hard-knocks" juvey's you know. So I turned eighteen in that school but they wouldn't let out. So nexts best thing was the Army. Woohoo. They told me to turn my head and cough. After that it was off to Fort Lewis - Washington. BBL-Redroad

I dont mean to pry but in your post, when you mentioned negligent homicide, did you hit someone while you blacked out?

Ya, to Recovery1983. I was totaled out/blacked out. WOW, sad moment for at that time.

As I was saying backing up just alittle. There I was in the Armed Services. Now I was an adult. I was grown up. I was a man. LOL. I remember a group of us sneeking our to this PXs, and acyually buying for the first time. I'll have a six pack of OLY. WHew, what a statement and doing it. I joined as a buddy system with a friend of mine from that same school. By nexts morning My buddy was A.W.O.L. along with several others. Then all of a sudden all hell broke loose. We were assulted by these big men with smoky the bear hats. They called evername in the book. Made stand sraight walk in formation, and called them sir.

Smile Hi

So there I was in the Armed services. All manned up in uniform. Not for long though. I lasted for four-month and eighteen days and they gave me a medical discharge (honorable). I was very patriotic about. I love my country. So I got the discharge after they stuck my in the medical observation hospital and mentally disected me. They fill me with medication and I was in la-la land for three months.

Thumbs up

Hi Im Sharon and Im an alcoholic.

By the grace of my HP and people
like you here in SR I havent found
it necessary to pick up a drink of
"POISON" since 8-11-90.

For that and you I am truely grateful.

I was one of the lucky ones who
didnt have to stand in line for meds
way back in Rehab 1990. All they
did was take my temp and off i went.

I was nieve when it came to drugs.
Still am.
